The Health Department of the Uttar Pradesh government told media outlets that the state recorded 73 new cases of novel coronavirus between Wednesday and Thursday night. With this development, the state now has 3,071 confirmed cases of Covid-19.
As many as 1,153 of these cases are linked directly or indirectly to the Nizamuddin Tablighi Jamaat Markaz congregation held in Delhi in March of this year, added officials from the Health Department.
Out of the state’s 60 coronavirus-related casualties, Agra accounts for 16 followed by Meerut with 9 deaths, and Moradabad with 7. In addition, Kanpur Nagar has recorded 6 Covid-19 deaths, Mathura 4, Firozabad 3, Ghaziabad and Aligarh 2 each, and Prayagraj, Etah, Mainpuri, Jhansi, Bijnore, Kanpur Dehat, Amroha, Bareilly Basti, Bulandshahar, Lucknow, Varanasi and Shrawasti 1 death each.
Out of the patients who tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh, 120 have been discharged after recovery to date. This means that 1,250 patients have recovered from the infection in the state. On Thursday, the state recorded more recoveries than new cases for a third consecutive day, officials with the Health department said.
This means that the state now has 1,759 active cases.
