The Odisha government has allegedly dug up roads at border villages located at Andhra Pradesh-Odisha border amid the national lockdown.

This is reportedly in an effort to restrict people’s movement during the lockdown and as part of strict enforcement of the lockdown. However, this has also caused a serious problem to emergency services in remote tribal areas of districts which are located at the borders of the two states.

In a heartbreaking incident, Sawara Vaishnashri, a pregnant woman had to be shifted to a hospital in Doli due to lack of motorable road. The woman had to be transported in a makeshift palanquin.

The local health workers and villagers shifted the woman to the hospital with much effort and now It has agitated people who are questioning the Odisha government over its move.

The border district of Srikakulam reported 4 Covid-19 cases last week. On Monday, five more people from Odisha tested coronavirus positive, raising the total number of cases in the state to 108.
