A teenager was hacked to death by his classmates and buried in a rubber plantation in Kerala’s Pathanamthitta district this weekend. He was killed with an axe.

The police have arrested two of his friends.

The incident took place in the Koduman region on Sunday. The 16-year-old victim, Akhil, was from Angadikkal.

The police say a dispute during a game led to Akhil’s murder.

But they’re probing another possible angle, too: a debate over social media posts.
