Kangana Ranaut’s sister Rangoli Chandel’s Twitter account was suspended on Thursday after a controversial tweet. Two days after the incident, Kangana Ranaut defended her sister through a video message.
The video begins by Kangana referring to the controversial tweet. She then says that Sussanne Khan’s sister, Farah Khan Ali, and filmmaker Reema Kagti falsely accused Chandel of calling for Muslim genocide and if any such tweet is found, the sisters would come out and apologise.
“Do they want to say that every Muslim is a terrorist?” Kangana asks.
She then says that social media platforms must be demolished. “We have to find a way to completely demolish these platforms and start our own platforms.”
Kangana also says that Babita Phogat (who faced backlash for her hate tweet against a particular group) is being targeted and calls for additional security for the wrestler-turned politician.
The video was shared by Kangana Ranaut’s team with the caption, “#KanganaRanaut address the controversy around #RangoliChandel’s tweet, and why freedom of speech is important in a democracy. (sic)”
Kangana is currently in Manali along with her family amid the nationwide lockdown to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.
