Three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers were killed and as many suffered injuries in a militant attack in the Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday.
According to reports, the suspected militants opened fire at a joint party of CRPF and police at the Noorbagh near Ahad Bab’s crossing.
The injured were rushed to the nearby SDH Hospital were two CRPF men were declared dead on arrival, while, reports of another jawan succumbing to his injuries came moments later.
Sopore Superintendent of Police (SP) told India Today TV that two CRPF jawans were killed and a driver was injured in the militant attack.
“In the incident, three paramilitary troopers sustained injuries,” officials said.
SP said that militants attacked a CRPF vehicle on duty at Sopore town. Soon after the incident, security forces launched a search operation in the area to nab the attackers.
