The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has been serving langar to 1.25 lakh people everyday in major gurdwaras in the Capital.
At Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, langar is being prepared for 50,000 people daily. The DSGMC has also provided its guest houses to doctors and nurses facing accommodation issues due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Manjinder Singh Sirsa, DSGMC president, said with the help of local administration they are providing food to the needy in every corner of the city.
“Currently we are feeding approx 1.25 lakh people daily. If required, we can even go up to 20lakh people a month,” said Sirsa.
Those who are assigned for langar sewa stay in the gurdwara premises. They are strictly asked to follow social distancing while preparing the meal and also to cover their face with masks.
Along with free community kitchen, DSGMC has also given rooms of prominent gurdwaras to the doctors and nurses of RML Hospital, Lady Harding Hospital and many more.
Many medical staff donot want to carry the threat of the virus to their home and some are tortured by their neighbours which made the gurdwara committee to give their rooms to the corona warriors m along with high protein diet which includes paneer, rajma and more.
